My hypnotherapy services are designed to make us happier, and healthier individuals, and we all want to be happier people, so my services are not dangerous at all. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, and we go in and out of hypnosis multiple times a day. So depending on the state of mind or state of being that we are in on a regular basis, hypnosis is perfectly safe. Also, because of my scope of practice, I cannot legally prescribe medications or perform diagnoses for any illnesses or ailments. But one thing I do give my clients is general nutritional advice, because a poor diet can be hazardous to our health, and it can also cause something called hyper-suggestibility.
Hypnotherapy, by nature works by putting us in a suggestive state to allow the subconscious mind to be open to new suggestions. Hyper-suggestibility, however, is a highly receptive state in which we become suggestible to just about all of our surroundings. This can be dangerous, because it causes us to take advice that isn’t necessarily good for us. It can, for instance, cause us to spend too much money for online services that we don’t necessarily need. And if we are not careful, it can cause us to get in over our heads financially. Hyper-suggestibility occurs easily when we are in a low blood sugar state, known as hypoglycemia. Contrary to popular belief, the healthy way of solving hypoglycemia is by eating more protein-rich foods such as meat, nuts, or dairy products rather than sugar-rich foods. Reason being, is because sugar causes a spike in blood sugar levels followed by a rapid drop in blood sugar. A crash in blood sugar is easy to identify, because it gives us a free-falling sensation, both when we’re asleep and when we’re awake. Protein, on the other hand, raises our blood sugar at a slower rate and it also doesn’t raise it to an unnecessarily high level like sugar does. Green vegetables are also good foods to consume along with protein. Particularly cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussel sprouts, because they are rich in fiber as well as vitamins and minerals.
One reason people sometimes question the safety of hypnotherapy, is because people sometimes confuse it with brainwashing. The difference between hypnotherapy and brainwashing is that brainwashing relies on the hypersensitive state to modify our behaviors and beliefs very quickly. Hyper suggestibility is not conducive to hypnotherapy, because we don’t want to be receptive to the good and the bad at the same time to modify our behaviors to work with us to reach our goals. Therefore I always want my clients to show up for an online session after being well fed, so they can be focused on the work they want to do with my in hypnotherapy.
